That gives me time to get to work, get cleaned up and changed (I'm only 5 miles from work. 10-15 minutes to drive, 20-25 minutes to bike, 45 minutes by bus)<br /><br />The trip home depends on what time of day I leave. Normally, I'll leave around 2:30pm. Traffic isn't too much of a problem and I can take the same route I take in the mornings.<br /> <br />Leaving at 3pm puts me in school traffic. I'll take a few detours and come out at a different set of lights that's easier to cross. It adds 2.5 miles to my trip home. <br /> <br />4pm puts me in the beginning of rush hour (not fun to ride in) and the route I take adds nearly 6 miles to my trip home.  It's worth the extra miles and my hands appreciate that as I don't experience the white-knuckled death grip on my handlebars! http://ixrp.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1224725495/0#0 BikeCommute.com Forun/General Board for Bicyce Commuting http://ixrp.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1224725495/0#0 This morning going home from working last night I experienced the first near freezing trip of the fall. I get off work at 7am and head home in the dark with ny lights and reflective vest. Todays ride reminded me that I need warmer gloves. I plan on riding as much as I can this winter but will probably not ride in snowy or icy conditions. I will probably not ride in subzero temps either.
